Lets Keep a Dialy

1 :gloomy bowels:2005/05/07(土) 00:05:42
They say that the best way to master English composition is to keep diary every day.
Needless to say, we had better do it. yes, dear, but it is generally difficult because we are apt to maintain our first morale.
So I suggest to keep a diary in public. We can observe each other not to be idle.

Then I recommend you to write by the name of your handle name.
And welcome any visiors who corrects mistakes, tell his/her impressions, and even insult us.

Lets start.

2 :gloomy bowels:2005/05/07(土) 00:09:05
Oops, I found a mistake by myself just now.
We can't maitain our first morale, are apt to lose it.

3 :gloomy bowels:2005/05/07(土) 00:11:59
There is one more, 'suggest to keep' is an error, correctly "suggest keeping"

8 :gloomy bowels:2005/05/07(土) 15:27:42
You can write anything. As I named this 'diary' it is advisable that we write about what you have gone through today or yesterday.

Surely this thread and others are similar, but I hope this thread to have a sence of purpose more conciously.
With handle names, we can maintain our morale and the readers can recognize each our dialies as continuous stories.
I don't mean to disturb other Channel2 dwellers.

When I get up at 14:00 this afternoon to find my celullar phone had got a mail from my friend.
She had suggested that we should have a dinner together. As I had heard that she had feld out of sorts,
I replied a mail which asked if she overstrains.

Waiting her answer, I studied English. Today's exercises are the words from Harry Potter I(Philosopher's Stone).
I have read through it once and now in the second round.
Though at first I despised it because it has been witten for children,
I cound find about 50 or more unknown words in one chapter.
For example, 'scrawny','strangle','crumble' , even 'snivel'!! Nevertheless I always snivel myself!!!
This book has 17 chapters, so if I can remenber all words, they will amount to 800 to 1000 words.
Today's quota are ChapterIII review and proceed to IV.

And I tried to get rid of annoying weeds at a yard of my house, but I failed becaouse they are too tough.
Then I got an answer said that we would go to drive somewhere, I took a bath.
I had not taken bath these three days. Now I am very clean.

I am never willing to study today. Ahh,,, very dull....
But I must keep a diary lest I should be laughed by all of you.

Today all I have studied is listening BBC World Radio for 30 minutes.
They say the ceremony of the 60th anniversery of German surrender in 1945 have been carried out today.
In Japan they will have the same thing in August.

In addition to it, I shall read Chapter IV and V Harry Potter.
The most important thing of me is read, write, listen English every day.
As I have something to do Tomorrow, I must not be idle today.

See you. You should not be lazy, too.

I was busy today. But not as I can't study at all.
In the train and the office I could make progress the review of Chapter IV
and somehow proceed reading V and a few pages of VI of Harry Potter.

Yes, sir, I am a very bad worker, indeed.
I always think 'Do study, don't work'. I shall study as possible, if no one observes me.
"Devote yourself to your work", say some people. But, in my opinion, they would
deceive us to use us cheaply, or give themselves fanatically to some ridiculous religion
or anything else stupid, in short, they have been deceived themselves.
Actually, "All I have to do is what to be beneficial for myself", this is the truth.
It will be too late if I know that after I have been dismissed.

By the way, I remembered 100 words today (from Harry Potter).
But don't worry. I'll have forgotten them entirely by now tomorrow.

Less feel like to study.
Done today was only a mere review of Chapter V.
Mmm....mmm.

To make up for this, I enjoyed Channel2 durling the day.
Yes sir. The fact is that it compensate nothing, just wasted in vain.

Nothing was peculiar. I went to supermarket which is 7 minutes' walk from my house,
where there is the laundry to which I had left my overcoat, halfcoat and other winter clothes.
Then I did not lost the token to distinguish mine from other's.
It is a brilliant matter a bit because I had never be able to succeed to
keep the token untill the day that I recieved the clothes.

I must concentrate to study tomorrow.

Good night.

I advise you to brush up your English grammar.
Your writings include too many grammatical errors for readers to point out and correct.
I also recommend that you read a lot of books written in plain English, not ones like "Harry Potter",
which is too difficult for your current level of English.
I mean it, not out of saracasm or cynicism.
If you are to keep up this painstaing job of keeping a diary in public,
you need to write something that others might at least feel like reading and correcting;
otherwise you might end up finding yourself keeping just another cheap thread like "Chatter in English."

28 :gloomy bowels:2005/05/12(木) 03:21:05
>>27
Thank you for your advise. I don't think you sneer me.
One of the strong point of such bulletin boards is that somebody,
like you, often points out frankly. Its precious.
I think your writings are civil. So I must be polite.

My intention was not to delight others. And I expected someone else to scribble graffiti.
But I could get no comrade. I should have build a thread in other category such as "monologue".
I see, surely, I had better quit this plan.

29 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2005/05/12(木) 04:11:09
>>28
Your English in this posting is far better than before!
All you need to do is write cautiously, as in >>27, not scribble graffiti,
which does you no good, other than making you feel like you're writing "English."
If you want to improve your English writing skills, writing English is not enough.
Trying to write good English is the way, even if it takes time.

By the way, some corrections:

>One of the strong pointS
>often point out frankly → often point out your/my mistakes ("point out" needs an object.)
>I should have build → I should have built
>in other category → some other category ("another category" sounds a bit unnatural to me.)
>I had better quit this plan → No. You better not quit this plan. You aren't a quitter, are you?

30 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2005/05/12(木) 04:33:13
Sorry.

>All you need to do is write cautiously, as in >>27, not scribble graffiti,

→All you need to do is write cautiously, as in >>28, not scribble graffiti,

I must be cautious, too...

I decided to give up holding this thread and to keep a diary at some other threads.

To tell the truth, yesterday I read >>29-30 as soon as they were written.
But then I was at a loss for a response. I couldn't write anything at once,
not because it was daylight, but because I was completely beaten by those postings.
Not only by his English skills, but by his wit and contents of messages.
Beaten, but very delighted as well. The writer must be certainly the one of the
wisest dwellers. I had never overwhelmed so perfectly for ages in this website.

Meanwhile, I have found that I am too careless to keep a diary in public - especially
to occupy one of the threads - and still have not got used to alphabet enough.
At least a person who wants to have someone correct his writings should be better than make
such simple mistakes as lacking "s" of a plural form and overlooking a verb conjugation.

Although some dwellers often have trivial quarrels at some other threads - even sometimes
they dispute about how good at English they are in the Japanese language -,
maybe in this board there seems to be more number of reliable dwellers than I have expected.
I shouldn't have made light of this board. Consequently, I have done some rude things for
the sincere dwellers.

In addition to the above reasons, there are some smilar threads as >>10 says.
Now it makes no sense that I maintain this thread without no followers who is on the same
level. So, in spite of >>29-30's kind encouragement, I have decided to quit this thread
and keep my plan at some other threads with this advise, "Writing English is not enough.
Trying to write good English is the way, even if it takes time" and "Be cautious";
It took me about two hours to write this posting.

See you somewhere.
